Why do you do what you do? Is it to become a better version of yourself, physically or mentally? Is it to accomplish things you never thought you could? Is it to be more stable financially? Is it to achieve your wildest dreams? If the answer is no, then why do you do what you’re doing?
Tablio believes in going after our “Z”. A “Z” is an end goal that every action builds towards.
For us, the options are endless to reach our goal. We believe no matter where a person starts if they move step-by-step, day-by-day, they will reach their end goal.
Having a “Z” gives our employees a reason to work hard, for themselves and our company. We have each employee create a vision board by their desk of where they aim to be. This constant view of what they want reminds them that it is only themselves stopping them from achieving it.
“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.” – Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street
The first step in achieving your goals is to clearly define your goals. This might sound obvious, but it’s the most skipped step. Many people say they want a new car or a new house, or to be happier or richer. Those goals are not clearly defined. What new car or house do they want? How do they measure being happier or richer than they are now? In order to know what you need to do to achieve your goals, you must specify exactly what those goals are.
Once you know what your specific goal is, you can start to go after it.
Create a vision board of your goal. The more you see it, the harder you’ll work for it. Don’t let your goal sit at the back of your mind. It needs to be upfront motivating you to make every action geared towards it. In order to achieve your goal, you must work for it every single day.
It’s best to separate your goal into the steps it takes to achieve it. Breaking your goals into different steps will help you feel accomplished as you make progress towards it. Working towards a goal can be very stressful, but as you knock off each step, you’ll feel one step closer to achieving it.
Take it one step at a time. Your “Z” or end goal is a final destination with a route needed to get there. When using GPS, you must also have a specific location and a route to get there. If you turn left when you’re supposed to turn right, you won’t make it to your final destination. Don’t cut corners. Taking it step by step ensures that you’ll reach your goal accurately and successfully.
Just like in GPS, there are detours. Don’t get discouraged if your path takes a detour. You’re headed towards your goal but sometimes life happens. If a detour arises, your strive to accomplish your goal will create a new path of steps to overcome the detour and get you back on track. Keep going and never give up.
Work for what you want. Your “Z” is your “Z” because it is what you want most in life. How hard would you be willing to work for your goal if you knew you could achieve it? We believe the sky isn’t the limit, you are. Work for what you want and you’ll end up having it instead of wanting it.
