Keeping Up With Your Goals Throughout the Year

Another year has come and pass and New Year’s Resolutions have been set, yet again. How many of your New Year’s Resolutions did you accomplish in 2017? We’d like to say that we accomplished all of ours, but we all know New Year’s Resolutions only last for so long. That’s why January 17th is National Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day.

Have you already ditched your resolution for 2018? We haven’t. And this year, we’re sticking to it. Accomplishing your goals is hard, and staying on top of your progress is even harder. That’s why we’re giving you our best advice to keep up with your goals throughout the year.

  1. Create S.M.A.R.T Goals

S.M.A.R.T. goals are goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Using this method helps you set goals you can actually achieve in a timely manner. Be realistic with yourself on what you can actually accomplish in the near future.

  1. Create A Vision Board

Create a vision board for yourself to help you envision your goals. Make it stand out and put in a place you see often. When you see your goals in front of you, you’re more likely to accomplish them because you’re constantly reminded of them. You can even create a vision board for each goal you have so that you can see the steps you need to take in order to reach each one. This brings us to our next tip.

  1. Break Down Each Goal Into Smaller Goals

If you have a big goal you want to accomplish this year, break it down into steps. Put each step into a specific month. That way you have to accomplish one step every month until you eventually accomplish your goal. Say you want to buy a car. The first step is saving up for it, the next step is picking out the right car, the next step is looking at cars, etc. Do one step every month and eventually your big goal will be accomplished. This also helps you feel less overwhelmed. When the little steps are easier to accomplish, you’ll feel more productive when you cross them off your to do list instead of waiting for the big goal to be crossed off.

Make 2018 be the year you accomplish all of your goals, we know you can do it. Break it down, work hard, and in 2019 you’ll look back at all that you’ve accomplished.
