When dealing with a potential customer, it is always important to be as friendly as possible. “The customer is always right”. We’ve all heard this before, and that’s because it’s true. As someone who works in customer service, it is your responsibility to make sure that each customer is happy with their service, even those potential customers who do not actually make a purchase.
Thanking a potential customer for their consideration is an important way for you to connect with that potential customer in a manner that will build trust for the future. Saying “Thank you for your consideration!” lets your potential customer know you appreciate them – even if they didn’t choose to spend money with your company.
Depending on your business, there are many ways you can say “Thank you for your consideration”. Follow up emails, samples, or coupons for a future purchase are all a great way to say thanks for thinking of making a purchase from our company, we hope to do business with you in the future. Letting your potential customers know you value them taking their time to consider you as a business partner will give them the feeling of being appreciated and cared for, this helps build trust for any future endeavors that could occur.
Although sending a thank you email is a great way to pop-up in your potential customers mind after they decide to not do business, including a coupon in your follow up will give them incentive to make a purchase in the future. This coupon could say something along the lines of “Sorry we missed your business this time, but here’s one on us the next time we see you!” or “Hope to see you back soon, next time buy one and get one free just for considering us!” These thoughtful gestures speak measures in the mind of your potential customer.
If you decide to go with the sample method instead, make sure to send samples of your most quality products. This method works better for companies that do work in person, and not digitally (unless you can provide a digital sample). When you give your potential customer a sample, make sure to also give them a small thank you note to go along with it.
